David Willcocks L.B.I.P.P
My life as a photographer began in the early 1980's. At that time I was
fortunate to be involved with a group of people all of whom were starting out
in photography. We all had an interest in Black and White from capture to
print, Portraiture being my main interest. We were all self taught (There were
no full time photographic coarse available in Cornwall in those days)
We were all involved in the local club scene (At that time this was the easiest
way to meet like minded people, although I think that it is fare to say we were
a step apart). We shared ideas and skills and by doing this our skills base
grew quickly and at competition time things were quite competitive. This in
turn pushed us on. They were good times and I have a lot to thank them for!
By this time my photographic skill and darkroom technique had advanced to a
level where I felt that I would try to get my prints hung in some International
Salons. These are events where photographers can submit their work. Usually
between 2000-3000 prints would be entered from all over the world
From these around 200 would be selected to be hung in the exhibition, depending
on the size of the Gallery. I can say that it's a great feeling to walk into
such a room and see your work alongside other entries from around the world!
